IB 270: Evolution of Molecules and Cells
The first core course for IB Honors students, taken during the Fall semester of Sophomore year, is taught by Dr. Allison Hansen. Discover the major evolutionary transitions of biomolecules and cells including: energy acquisition and metabolic processes, information inheritance, system regulation, and genomes. This course covers the origin of life, the prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell, as well as multicellularity. The class meets in a small and cohesive lecture setting three times per week and is supplemented with a weekly laboratory component that introduces independent research projects. |
